Since 1958, the iconic Sunset Beach swing bridge has linked the island and the mainland. Opening hourly and on demand, and occasionally breaking down, it served us for over fifty years.
With the opening of the Mannon C. Gore Bridge, our little bridge was decommissioned. With support from many of you, we have been able to keep the bridge and tender house and relocate it to a site on dry land where it can serve as a museum and gathering place for the community.
You can help us! The bridge is being saved privately by our non-profit society with support from individuals and businesses. We need both volunteer support and financial support. Contact us by email at oldbridgepreservationsociety@gmail.com You can make a contribution by using the Donate button below or you can mail a check to Old Bridge Preservation Society, 404 3rd St., Sunset Beach NC 28468. OBPS is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contributions are fully tax deductible.
Watch the Tender House being moved! Floating away!
